DUET teachers held a Human Chain protesting the massacre
Teachers of DUET organized a human chain and a Sit-in program expressing strong protest and anger against the attacks and killings of students across the country. On Wednesday (July 31) at 3 pm, a procession started from the Administrative Building and the sit-in program was held at the Central Shaheed Minar at DUET.
At that time, the teachers expressed their anger by protesting the brutality that is being done on the students of the country. They said that for the logical demand of reforming the quota system in government jobs, the students of various educational institutions including public and private universities and colleges of the country were holding very peaceful and non-violent programs for the last few days. However, although the general students' movement was peaceful, later due to an unwanted comment by the head of the government, the protesting students were brutally ignored and became extremely angry and hopeless. Later, when the students reacted immediately, the peaceful protest was indiscriminately attacked and fired upon by a gang of terrorists backed by the government agencies including Police. Many students are reported to be injured and even many are missing.
The teachers also pointed out that like all the conscious public of the country, the general teachers of DUET are strongly protesting at this barbaric attack and oppression and expressing deep concern, anxiety and grief over the massive casualty of the general students.
The teachers also said that they will always give full support to the students in favor of their logical demands.
